Top 10 Great Inventions that Changed the World

Our lives are very different from those humans which existed hundreds of years ago. Today it’s the era of modern science and top great inventions. But still there were some inventions which caused change in our lives of a great magnitude. Well! if we note that smart phones are there, laptop computers , tablets etc and these things are making advancements. But these advancements aren’t effecting our lives as much as the inventions of the past did.

“Nothing is permanent except a change.”

Change is permanent and we all know that we can’t go back and adopt the lifestyle which early humans had.Anyhow, here is the list of top 10 Great inventions that changed the world.

10: Cotton Gin

The cotton gin is a device which can remove cotton seeds from cotton. Thus it allows us to make fine cotton fibers from which threads and then clothes can be made. This invention effected lifestyle of humans greatly. It can be called the basis of modern textile industry, however, there are different processes being used these days i.e polymerization to create synthetic fibers for the manufacture of clothes.

9: Wheel

According to encyclopedia, the first wheels weren’t used for transportation at the time of 3500 B.C. It is thought that they were used as potter’s wheel in Mesopotamia. After 300 years of the wheel was used for chariots. Wheels were actually a mega great invention. As it lowered the friction and enhanced the speed of work done i.e transportation which directly effected every activity of the lives of humans. Wheels are now a days everywhere.

8: Printing Press

According to encyclopedia ” The printing press was introduced to the West in the Holy Roman Empire by Johannes Gutenberg, around 1440. Gutenberg, a goldsmith by profession, devised a hand mould to create metal movable type, and adapted screw presses and other existing technologies, to create a printing system. ” Printing press was a also one of the top inventions which changed our lives. Try to consider our world without any printed document or without newspaper, magazines, books etc

7: Refrigeration

Refrigeration wasn’t actually an invention but it was a discovery. It is actually a process in which the growth of microbes or Decomposers i.e bacteria & fungi is reduced. Hence, our food remains safe from decomposition or the process of decomposition is slowed down. Without refrigeration the competition for food and survival will be of a much larger magnitude than we have now. We would not have enough food to eat without refrigeration. So refrigerators can be regarded as on of the top inventions which changed our lives.

6: Telephone

Alexander Graham Bell is known as the father of telephone. Because it was his design that was first patented. However, he was not the first inventor to come up with the idea of telephone. Antonio Meucci began to develop a design for telephone or telegraph in 1849. Anyhow, telephone invention is the basis of modern age communications. Our radio transmission, E.M. transmission wouldn’t have been in use if the telephone technology hadn’t been introduced.

5: Steam Engine

The concept of using steam to power machines had been around for thousands of years, but Thomas Newcomen’s creation in 1712 was the first to harness that power for useful work (pumping water out of mines, for the most part). In 1769, James Watt modified a Newcomen engine by adding a separate condenser, which vastly increased the steam engine’s power and made it a far more practical way to do work. Steam Engine then provided us with a ladder which lead us to the height of efficient engines available these days. Steam engines are credited for the fact that steam engines mobilized industry.

4: Automobiles

The ideas for personal vehicles had been around for years, Karl Benz’s 1885 Motorwagen, powered by an internal combustion engine of his own design, is widely considered the first automobile. Automobiles are the inventions which mobilized people not goods. Another one of the top inventions. We can’t except our day without automobiles. Our lives would have been much slower without these cars.

3: Electricity

Encyclopedia says: In 1879, the American inventor Thomas Edison was finally able to produce a reliable, long-lasting electric light-bulb in his laboratory. This invention really revolutionized the world. Electricity usage is everywhere. Our offices, houses, buildings, cars, anything you can notice is operating on electricity.

2: Computer

Mechanical computing devices were in existence in the 1800s (there were even rare devices that could be considered computers in ancient eras), but electronic computers were invented in the 20th century. A computer is the device which can do calculations. Computers are used in our every documentation task or the information about the whole world e.g our property details, our national IDs etc everything is kept stored with the help of computers.

1: Internet

DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), the research and development arm of the U.S. military, created ARPANET in the late 1960s. This network of computer-to-computer connections was intended for military and academic research. Other computer networks began to cross the globe in the next few years, and by the late 1970s computer scientists had created a single protocol, TCP/IP, that would allow computers on any network to communicate with computers on other networks. This was, essentially, the birth of the Internet, but it took 10 or so years for various other networks in the world to adopt the new protocol, making the Internet truly global. The internet is an another one of the top inventions. Today the Globe is linked. Different countries are linked . Just cause of Internet.
