China’s manufacturing sector had a good November. Shipments were up six percent over last year. Consumer spending beat last year’s spending by eight percent even though China didn’t import as much from the U.S. last month.
Chinese consumers decided to not buy American products while Trump has his tariff sword up their ass. Chinese tourists decided to take New York and California, as well as other hot tourist spots in the U.S., off their bucket list. The Chinese who own property in the states have it up for sale, and the Chinese government continues to sell U.S. bonds in order to hurt America’s economic numbers.
Most of those changes will show up in the 2020 economic growth figures. Trump told Wilbur Ross to adjust November’s 1.9 percent growth number to 2.1 percent. Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell told the press GDP growth will stay in the two percent neighborhood unless Trump puts tariffs on French products, and he continues to stick it to the U.S. tech industry by banning Huawei.
Mr. Trump started a tech war with Huawei last May, according to a few press reports. But he really started to bone Huawei when he had Canada arrest Meng Wanzhou, Huawei’s CFO last December. Meng is a Huawei board member and the daughter of co-founder Ren Zhengfei. Meng is under house arrest in Vancouver. She’ll be back in a Canadian court in January.
Bill Barr is under the legal microscope for acting more like Trump’s legal watchdog than the attorney general of the United States. Barr continues to back up Trump’s claim the FBI spied on the Trumpster while he tried to complete his hotel deal in Moscow during the campaign. Mr. Trump told the press he had no business in Russia. But according to Michael Cohen, Trump planned to build the tallest building in Europe in Moscow, and he offered Putin the penthouse suite for free if he sanctioned the deal. Nothing gets done in Russia without the Kremlin’s approval.
Boris Johnson’s feet haven’t touched the ground since he won the election. His party picked up 80 seats, so he’s ready to rumble with the EU, again. Boris wants to make a change before he signs the deal. Johnson wants the divorce to officially January 31, 2020. It took the EU seven years to finalize a similar deal with Canada. Several European news reports claim the EU might tell Boris to suck a d*ck, but if they do, Johnson will pull a Trump move and leave without a signed deal.
