There’s no quiet before the storm Mr. Trump created when he decided to push Iran to its limit. The drone attack sounded an alarm around the world. The alarm indicates Mr. Trump went rogue when he gave the order to take down Iran’s military hero.
Foreign leaders know what’s next. Oil prices jumped. Iran told Europe the nuclear agreement is over, and Iran plans to whip up some old-fashion Revolutionary Guard badass and aim it at the Trumpster. But Mr. Trump keeps poking Khomeini with threats like he’ll blow cultural sites to pieces if Iran retaliates. The UN claims Trump will make the list of war criminals along with making the list of impeached presidents if he pulls a stupid move like that.
Nancy Pelosi wants to stop Trump from pulling the U.S. into another war the country doesn’t want and can’t afford. But Trump thinks he has the presidential power and the tweeting authority to wage war with allies while he celebrates tyrants. Mr. Trump sent Congress his notes about the drone attack, but the notes had classified stamped all over them. Mr. Trump told the press his tweets fulfill the requirements listed in the 1973 War Powers Act.
China’s chief negotiator Liu He will arrive in Washington January 3rd. Trump plans to sign the phase one portion of the trade deal. The Chinese want to sign unless Trump objects to the changes Chinese lawyers and translators made throughout the document. The plan is for Trump to perform a dramatic phase one signing for the press on January 15th.
Chinese scholars don’t think China will buy the amount of farm products the president keeps boasting about in 2020 now that Brazil and Argentina, as well as Mexico, have farm orders from Chinese importers.
Trump will celebrate the phase one deal, but the tech part of the trade is a bigger nut to crack. The Chinese won’t allow Mr. Trump to dictate how the government subsidizes its international corporations.
Mr. Trump wants to tariff-screw the EU for subsidizing Airbus. And he wants to tariff French wine, cheese, and other products because of Macron’s decision to levy a tax on U.S. companies who receive millions from French consumers.
If Trump pulls the trigger, the EU will retaliate. According to CNN, twenty-five American states will feel the impact of Trump’s decision when the EU imposes tariffs on American products. Most of those states are Trump-loving states.
