Dr. Fauci let the nation know the coronavirus won’t go away next week or the week after. Fauci said he won’t know if Trump’s initiatives flatten the curve for several weeks. A government report claims the deadly bug could keep the country idle for 18 months. But Mr. Trump told a reporter he didn’t think that number made sense.
Mr. Trump called it a hoax for weeks, and he continues to politicize the outbreak. Trump calls the pandemic the “China virus,” and that makes the Chinese see red. Dr. Fauci asked Trump without mentioning his name to cut that political crap out of his coronavirus speech, but according to the Washington Post, the president can’t help himself.
The UK is in the same situation. Boris Johnson did the same thing Donald Trump did when they watched China get bushwhacked by COVID-19. Johnson tried to keep the economy running, but as cases of the virus exploded and the death toll made people stay home Boris finally gave the order to close pub, restaurants, public events and other social gatherings.
Doctors in the UK need more help, but Johnson’s slow response created a healthcare nightmare. UK doctors don’t have enough personal protective equipment and there’s a hospital bed shortage. The same nightmarish scenario is on display in the United States, even though the president claims he and Pence have Fauci’s flattening curve thing under control. Trump’s approval rating is 53%, but that won’t last long if Fauci’s prediction holds water, according to the New York Times.
Nikki Haley gave up her Boeing board seat after the company asked Trump for a $60 billion bailout. Several news reports say Nikki’s resignation may be part of the plan to make her Trump’s running mate now that Joe Biden said he wants a woman VP. Those reports claim Trump will blame Pence when the real pandemic numbers surface in several weeks. And that will give him the ammunition he needs to send Pence back to Indiana.
Mr. Trump said the FDA approved the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 patients. Malaria patients use hydroxychloroquine. According to a French research study, 14 out of 20 patients with COVID-19 took hydroxychloroquine for six days and they tested negative for the virus on the next day. The FDA doesn’t know if hydroxychloroquine will work, but the president wants to push it to show he’s on top of making people well again, according to the New York Times.
