Activision Blizzard Games Among Best Ways To Beat Winter Blahs

The winter of 2022 is shaping up to be an excellent season for gamers. Many highly anticipated games will be released in the upcoming months, including the latest installment of Activision’s first-person shooter game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. “Between all the massive RPGs, the first-person shooters, and the strategy games landing in February, I’m pretty sure my gaming backlog will simply grow and my free time will be spent trying to juggle these with some of January’s releases that I’m still playing, like God of War on PC,” Erik Kain, a gaming and entertainment writer, stated in Forbes.

These are the best games, new and classic, to get excited about playing this winter.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2

Modern Warfare 2 currently has no set release date, but is expected to be available for gamers sometime this year. Call of Duty insider Tom Henderson tweeted, “It looks like Call of Duty: 2022 is code-named Project Cortez. [And] it is expected to be a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019.” The first-person shooter game will likely be coming to PCs as well as Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Since Microsoft is acquiring Activision Blizzard, there is the possibility that Modern Warfare 2 will be available for PlayStation hardware shortly. According to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, “Activision Blizzard games are enjoyed on a variety of platforms, and we plan to continue to support those communities moving forward.”

Dying Light 2

In 2015 Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment published the survival horror video game Dying Light. The latest version, Dying Light 2, is expected to debut in February. “Dying Light was a really fun first-person parkour shooter with a cool night/day cycle that had zombies get a lot scarier when the sun went down, and included a cool multiplayer system that let enemy online players hunt you down as an extra powerful undead foe. Dying Light 2: Stay Human takes all that and makes it bigger and better,” noted Kain.

Activision’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was first published in 2019 and has been voted the best Activision video game, according to Fandomspot. “You either get good at parrying attacks or take enemies down with stealth, or you won’t make it very far,” notes a gamer. “Sixteenth-century Sengoku-era Japan is a brutal age to live in. So don’t expect anyone to go easy on you here. But if that’s what you’re looking for, this game will keep you busy for months.”

CrossfireX

Crossfire X is exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox Series X and has a release date of Feb. 10. Kain hadn’t played any Crossfire games before but commented that “this looks pretty damn good. It’s only coming to Xbox at this point with no PlayStation or PC release, which is kind of rare these days.”

Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Underground
Even though Activision published Tony Hawk’s Underground in 2003, it’s still a much-beloved game for players of all ages. “I’d say give this a try for its massive story mode, its open-ended maps, its varied mission design, its combo-focused, semi-true-to-life skating experience, and for the glory of rising to the top,” says one gamer. “[For] anyone who used to skate, or still does, this is a title worth checking out.”
