Attorney General Bill Barr jumped into the Trump conspiracy pool with both feet when he told American tech companies to forget about using Huawei and ZTE components. Mr. Barr’s mission as attorney general is to protect Mr. Trump no matter what the Trumpster says or does.
Barr’s been on a mission to bring down John Brennan and James Comey. Mr. Trump wants to bring criminal charges against the former intelligence officials. Trump blames Comey for starting the Mueller investigation. And Trump hates Brennan for letting the world know Russia helped him win the 2016 election.
Wilbur Ross told 206 American tech companies Mr. Trump will let him disburse licenses to work with Huawei, soon. But now that the phase one deal isn’t a real deal, Trump wants to up the pressure on Chinese corporations. Mr. Trump recently put hundreds of Chinese corporations on his blacklist.
A trade deal with China won happen this year, according to Wall Street economists. China wants Trump to drop tariffs on more than $360 billion worth of Chinese products and take the December tariffs off the table, but Trump said that’s a deal-breaker. The Trumpster told the press China wants to sign a deal more than he does. He said he wants to wait until next year unless China meets his mobster-style terms.
Europe wants Trump to stop threatening to add tariffs to European-made vehicles. Germany’s auto business is in the toilet. Germany is the first European country to declare its economy is in recession mode. The U.K. economy is just a couple of steps away from a recession, and other EU countries are in the same situation, according to EU’s Central Bank Chief Christine Lagarde.
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell claims the U.S. economy is in good shape. But Wall Street economists predict the U.S. will be in recession mode by June 2020 unless Trump stops tariff screwing American allies as well as China.
Trump wants China to stop subsidizing Chinese tech companies. He wants to make an example out of Huawei, but Ren Zhengfei’s company continues to grow despite the president’s quest to financially hurt all Chinese companies.
Huawei just introduced its Mate X foldable smartphone in China. The big-ticket phone is the first Huawei phone that doesn’t use Google’s operating system. The Mate X has one of the most advanced cameras on the market. It competes with the Samsung Galaxy and the iPhone 11 in terms of price and functionality, according to Huawei officials.
