A Chinese doctor warned the government the coronavirus was a major threat to the nation. Instead of listening to Doctor Li, the government threw him in jail.
Doctor Li passed away from the virus. His death gave the Chinese a reason to up the ante on free speech in the Communist nation. President Xi told the press the government developed a vaccine for the virus, but new cases continue to surface around the world. One quarantined cruise ship reported 69 cases of the coronavirus over the weekend.
China’s President Xi decided he would let a high-ranking member of the Communist Party deal with the press. Mr. Xi wants to stay as far away from the coronavirus damage. Xi is president for life in China, so he wants to avoid the bad press, and he doesn’t want to take responsibility for the rapid spread of the virus.
China’s economy will take a serious hit from the coronavirus, according to Wall Street economists. First-quarter Gross Domestic Product growth could drop by 2.0% thanks to the virus. That number doesn’t include the damage the tariff war does to the Chinese economy.
Bill Barr wants to stop Huawei from dominating the global 5G market. Barr told a group the U.S. should invest in Ericsson or Nokia in order to take control of those companies to slow down Huawei’s 5G dominance. But Mike Pence told the press the president wants to hurt Huawei in other ways.
President Trump fired Gordon Sondland, and the Vindman twins right after his acquittal to show other White House employees what happens when they squeal on him. His message to his employees is, “keep quiet and do your job” no matter what they see or hear, according to the New York Times.
Firing Sondland and the Vindman brothers was an act of revenge, according to the New York Daily News. New York’s favorite newspaper put Trump on the front page and gave him the title, GOPfather for turning the Republican party into his party. The front page had a photo of the president sitting mobster-style the way Al Pacino sat in “The Godfather.”
According to several reports, the president will continue to fire White House employees he thinks leak information to the press, according to the Washington Post.
