The New York Daily News gave the president a new nickname after he fired Gordon Sondland, Alexander Vindman, and his twin brother. The paper called Mr. Trump “the GOPfather” and posted a picture of him sitting like Al Pacino sat in the movie, “The Godfather.”
Trump’s decision to fire Ambassador Sondland and White House National Security Council member Alexander Vindman, as well as his twin brother, prove Mr. Trump wants to weed out the people who ratted on him during the impeachment investigation, according to the Daily News. According to several news reports, the president will continue to get rid of what calls “the spies” in the White House.
Firing Sondland and the Vindman brothers proves the president wants to send a clear message to White House employees. The message is, if you tell the truth, you’ll lose your job, according to the New Times.
Mr. Trump continues to bash Mitt Romney for casting the sole Republican vote to remove him from office. Romney’s vote wasn’t enough to make that happen, but his vote sent voters a clear message. Mr. Romney told the press he couldn’t lie to get reelected. He said his job was to protect the constitution.
Attorney General Bill Barr let a conference group know the U.S. should invest in Ericsson or Nokia to stop Huawei from dominating the global 5G market. Mr. Trump’s new budget proposal includes giving the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) $700 million to help developing countries build 5G infrastructure. The DFC develops partnerships with the private sector in order to help emerging markets build 5G platforms.
Mr. Trump’s budget also includes a 21% cut in foreign aid, but the budget keeps Ukraine’s aid amount the same.
According to several reports, the new budget overlooks several of Trump’s 2016 campaign promises. Mr. Trump promised Mexico will build his wall, but American taxpayers are on the hook for the wall. President Trump’s latest claims about infrastructure, healthcare, Medicaid, and the deficit also conflict with his 2016 promises.
But the president’s accomplishments like the phase one deal, the USMCA agreement with Mexico and Canada, as well as the low unemployment and inflation numbers, may give him the support he needs to win in 2020, according to the Washington Post. But the Democrats plan to continue to prove the president is unfit to serve another four years.
