The brand new Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order video game has new details including exclusive footage for gamers to digest. The latest reveal came from Saturday’s Star Wars Celebration Chicago panel and included details on the cast, game story, and more.
As Gamespot reported on Sunday (Apr. 14), developer Respawn Entertainment held the panel to reveal some of the aspects of their upcoming release. Respawn is the developer behind popular video games Titanfall and Apex Legends. Their new title Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will involve a story set after “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and before “Episode IV: A New Hope.” It’s main character is Cal Kestis, played by actor Cameron Monaghan (Shameless, Gotham).
The story also involves Order 66, an order issued by the Emperor to hunt down and kill Jedi. Kestis is a Padawan who survived Order 66 and is trying to finish his Jedi training while also picking up the pieces of his past. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will be available for the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One, and Windows PCs. The version for PCs will be available on EA’s Origin Store.
Reportedly, the new game’s gameplay involves both “melee and Force abilities” as well as puzzle solving and platforming. The best news for many Star Wars fans is that the gameplay will involve a heavy aspect of lightsaber battles. Game director Stig Asmussen said that Respawn was looking to bring the same sort of battles seen in the movies to the game. Asmussen is also known for directing the popular game God of War 3.
A new trailer for the game is currently available at EA Star Wars’ YouTube channel. That trailer video checks in at 2:30 and features a narrative voiceover from the protagonist along with a look at various scenes from the game.
As far as an official release date, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will arrive on November 15, 2019. That’s just three days after the new Disney+ streaming video service will launch along with a brand new live-action Star Wars series called The Mandalorian. The new video game also arrives just over a month before the final film in the new trilogy arrives. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker releases in theaters on December 20, 2019.
