There have been many helpful additions to Twitter over the past year. Many users have wanted to be able to include various videos and photos with any retweets they send. However, these options were never available until now. Twitter has officially announced that it will now be possible for people to retweet something and add their own videos or photos to make it more interesting. There are many Twitter users who have rejoiced about the news. There is no question that these additions will make using the social media platform much more fun and engaging than it was before.
Twitter was in desperate need of some positive publicity. They have endured a hellish 2019 up until this point because of many different issues. They were accused by President Donald Trump of being biased against conservatives. However, Trump met with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and the meeting reportedly went very well. Twitter has also been heavily criticized for the large amount of cyber bullying that goes on every day on the platform. This has been an ongoing problem for several years that Twitter has not been able to clean up effectively. It remains to be seen what other measures they will take to correct this very serious problem in the future.
According to The Verge, allowing Twitter users to send a video or a photo with their retweet will enable people to be more creative when they use the platform. This will most likely increase the amount of times that people use Twitter on a daily basis. It might even succeed in getting more people to sign up and create an account. These changes have been rumored for a long time. However, they have been in the testing stage for several months. They have just now reached the point where Twitter is satisfied that they are ready for every person to use.
One of the Twitter proposed changes that is not getting a lot of positive response from users is the elimination of likes. It seems that people really enjoy seeing how many likes their tweets get. It is a quick and easy way to judge the popularity of a tweet. However, CEO Jack Dorsey does not want likes because of the social pressure that he believes they create. Twitter has not definitively said that likes are on the way out. However, the fact that they are testing a version of Twitter without likes is not a good sign.
