Nancy Pelosi let Boris Johnson know his bromance with Mr. Trump won’t be enough to ink a new trade agreement with the U.K. if Johnson leaves the EU without a deal. Trump told Johnson he would sign a new trade deal, and the deal would help rescue the U.K. eroding economy. But Congress has the ability to block any new trade deal, and Pelosi is ready to do that.
Mike Pence will visit the U.K. to stroke Boris Johnson and assure him the Trumpster is a man of his word. But most Brits don’t want Pence spreading Trump snake oil all over their country. Mr. Pence and his wife plan to visit Ireland on this trip, but the Irish told Pence he’s not welcome. Mike has Irish roots, but he’s also a racist and migrant child abuser in the eyes of the Irish.
Mr. Trump’s great economy is on life-support, according to Wall Street economists. The inverted bond yield let the stock market know there’s too much of Trump’s hot air in stock values, and it’s time to make an adjustment. Trump called the top Wall Street executives when the market tanked. He blames the Federal Reserve for the economic erosion. But Trump’s tariffs and trade war play a major role in fueling a recession in the U.S. as well as around the globe. Three out of five economists predict a global recession by June 2020.
The president told his voter base they have to vote for him in 2020. If they don’t, their 401K accounts will disintegrate and the stock market will crash. Trump wants the Feds to cut interest rates two more times in 2019, but interest rate cuts may not reverse the economic damage.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross stayed awake long enough to tell the press he’ll have a Huawei license answer from Trump soon. The Huawei business extension Trump gave tech companies ends August 19th. Trump won’t allow Google to sell its Android OS to Huawei. Mr. Trump claims Huawei is a spy for the Chinese government. But Trump might change his mind now that Ren Zhengfei told the press Huawei is ready to power its smartphones using its Harmony OS.
Using the Harmony OS in smartphones could hurt Google’s revenue. Huawei uses Harmony in TVs now, but Huawei has the ability to make the operating system smartphone ready if Trump continues the fight with China.
