This lasted for a couple of days with many of the channel owners being left confused with no real reasons for the ban. Their channels were eventually allowed to be turned on again. However, it became clear that Google had a serious problem with bitcoin. The company has not officially released a statement about why this is the case.
There was another incident involving Google removing a game called Bitcoin Blast from their Google Play store. According to bitcoinist.com, the company that created the game complained about the removal and Google eventually decided to allow the game to be available on their platform. However, the developer of the game has warned other companies that putting all of their eggs into Google’s basket could be a very bad thing. The whole situation is made worse by the fact that Google is not saying anything publicly about their stance regarding bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. That has forced the world to guess.
One of the things that Google might be looking out for is the possibility that their users are running bitcoin scams. Bitcoin is worth a lot of money. That has prompted many criminals around the world to concoct scams that promise people a massive return very quickly if they invest in cryptocurrency like bitcoin. The people who are dumb enough to fall for these scams end up getting ripped off and losing their money. Google obviously does not want their users to be subjected to such criminal behavior. However, they have pulled the trigger too soon regarding some bitcoin apps that are trustworthy and legit.
It remains to be seen what Google is going to do regarding bitcoin in the future. Crypto is only getting more popular around the world. This means that Google is going to have many more bitcoin apps on their platform that they are going to need to police. The policies they choose to make are going to impact the entire cryptocurrency industry. There are many developers who have been hoping that another company will come along to give Google competition. That has not happened as of yet. They are still very powerful.
