Pokemon Go Users Double Down on Niantic Updates

Niantic has been slowly and steadily changing the world of augmented reality gaming for the better part of the past two years. The company has been charged with taking one of the biggest franchises of all time into the future of mobile augmented reality. Pokemon Go has had its bumps and bruises over the past two years but it seems like Niantic is finally getting into their groove. In 2018, the team at Niantic looks like they are going to be focusing on changing core code in the game in order to make it more playable than ever. Fans at home are going to be hoping for a little bit more, however, and it remains to be seen if that will be coming. Still, Niantic released a new update and fans are already eager to share their thoughts.

The newest update to Pokemon Go was shelved under Patch 0.93.3. The goal of this update was for Niantic to largely close some loopholes in the game while restructuring code to eliminate bugs and other gameplay problems. Niantic’s Pokemon Go public-facing team released a statement saying, “More than anything else, the 0.93.3 update is dedicated to bug fixes and refactoring, the process of reworking the existing code base.”

While fans were no doubt happy to see that Niantic is maintaining their old code, it still doesn’t dampen the fact that the company has slowed down on releasing the single-player quest campaign that fans have been hungering for over the past year. Niantic has been hinting at the idea of a single-player quest line in a future update but as of yet, nothing tangible has been released. In fact, Niantic may actually be pulling away from releasing the single-player quest in the foreseeable future. Still, Niantic has plenty of the calendar left to release something for the quest-line, which aims to incorporate more side-characters, so fans shouldn’t be losing hope quite yet.

In the background of these patch updates, Niantic has also been focusing on their Legendary Raid battles with a worldwide event that is focusing on which Legendary will be removed from the current Gym system. A secondary event is also being launched that will allow special eggs to launch faster in windy weather while Raid battles see increased XP giveaway for trainers that choose to battle against the strong Pokemon. These updates will have to hold fans over for now while bigger updates come in the future.
