World of Warcraft Showcases The Tools of the Trade Series

The March 12, 2019 patch is delivering a lot of big promises that World of Warcraft players have been looking for, but the Tools of the Trade quest line is a surprise gift that may give crafters the content boost they need.

In a recent news post, Blizzard announced new, unique quest lines for Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, and Tailoring.

These quests require players to be character level 120 and skill level 150 in Kul Tiran or Zandalari crafting for your profession(s). Each item delivers a set of special effects that–while not entire gamebreaking–are helpful in the current struggle for dominance on a post-Sargeras strike Azeroth.

Alchemy: An item called Silas’ Sphere of Transmutation allows alchemist to transmute their sphere into another object for 1 hour. Players can also interact with cauldrons on Kul Tiras and Zandalar. Datamining

Blacksmithing: The Khaz’gorian Smithing Hammer. Armor or weapons have a chance to be crafted with Indestructible, meaning that players won’t have to repair the items. Repairing costs gold, and players–especially raiders–can look forward to hundreds or even thousands of gold in repairs during regular endgame content. The hammer can also repair a piece of their equipment instantly.

Enchanting: Iwen’s Enchanting Rod. Bonus resources when disenchanting. Enchanters can also consume 1 veiled crystal to animate an inert golem.

Engineering: The Ub3r-Spanner can be used to craft Ub3r-Constructs, and these constructs can be summoned to assist the caster for 20 seconds.

Inscription: The Sanquine Feather Quill of Lana’thel can create Blood Contracts. Scribes can siphon the blood of the dead around them, which restores health.

Jewelcrafting: The Jewelhammer’s Focus allow healers to interact with shrines across Kul Tiras and Zandalar. A Geode of gems is created from these shrines. Using the focus allows players to extract an embedded gem from socketed items.

The quests and their final items comes at a time when players show mixed feelings about the profession system. While recent updates make it easier to level up to relevant content across the nearly 15 years of Warcraft, some professions are either low on money-making potential or have little to no use for endgame raiding or PVP (Player-versus-Player) content.

This change comes with other major deliveries on the March 12 patch day, including playable Zandalari Troll and Kul’Tiran Human allied races. On April 16th, a follow-up to the patch will include the Crucible of Storms raid with two raid bosses and a shift from the Alliance versus Horde battle to the war that matters–an encounter with the Old Gods.
