Some of the biggest names in the show business world took turns on stage to talk about the various projects they have planned for the Apple streaming TV service that will debut later this year. An exact date that the service will be available was not revealed. The exact name of the service will be Apple TV+. There were also no details given regarding how much the new service will cost. No examples of the various subscription packages that will be available were discussed.
Oprah Winfrey talked for the first time about her new deal with Apple TV+. She has entered into a multi-year contract where she will produce a variety of interview and news programs covering a variety of subjects. Oprah’s involvement with Apple has been rumored for quite some time. Apple CEO Tim Cook had hinted at an agreement with Oprah on a number of occasions. However, he was very careful not to reveal any specific details before this big event. Oprah said that it is an honor to be partners with a company as respected as Apple.
Oprah was far from the only big show business name in attendance at the Apple TV+ launch event. Director Steven Spielberg was also there to talk about his project that will be debuting on the service. He will be reviving the series “Amazing Stories” that originally ran on NBC 30 years ago. He said that he will be putting more of an emphasis on TV in the coming years because of all the options that streaming services have given to him. Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon were also in attendance to talk about a new series they are making called “The Morning Show” where both actresses will play anchors on a TV morning news program.
Director and producer J.J. Abrams made a presentation about a new show that he will be involved in for the streaming service called “Little Voice.” It is about a young woman who is trying to make a career for herself as a professional singer. Apple definitely packed on the star power for this event. This was done in an effort to get investors on board with the streaming service. It seems Netflix has some very serious competition.
