One of the most popular video game titles of all-time is Mortal Kombat. It originates back to the early days of arcades in malls back in the 1990s before versions popped up on platforms such as Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo. Now in 2019, a brand new version has arrived with praise and criticism all around for the newest game consoles, but Warner Bros. and NetherRealm appear ready to fix that.
A report via Destructoid says the companies behind the game will roll out multiple updates in the coming weeks and months for all platforms. One of the first updates reported will arrive for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will “decrease the difficulty” for the Towers of Time mode. Reportedly, the patch will make those unblockable hazards now blockable and also adjust the A.I. on enemies.
In addition, gamers will experience an increase in the amount of currency they’ll earn, although there’s yet to be official reports of how much of an increase. However, the new patch is scheduled for the coming days.
After the PS4 and Xbox One patch, there will be patches on the way for both Nintendo Switch and PC versions of the game. Reports indicate that one patch is already live for the Switch. It was released to reduce the A.I. health and Towers of Time modifier frequency level. In addition, the patch offered “general stability fixes.” Another patch will be released at an unknown date which will address the same issues the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One patches will.
As far as the PC version goes, it also has two patches coming in the future. The first of these addresses multiple issues including an adjustment to reduce the difficulty of Towers of Time. It also fixes menu crashes or boot problems that are occurring with the game. A second patch for the PC is similar to the one coming to Xbox One and PS4 early this week.
As mentioned, the Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay has been widely praised. However, the microtransactions system and Towers of Time issues have hindered the newest installment in the franchise. Still, MK11 currently has a holds an 83 out of 100 rating for the PS4 and an 87 out of 100 rating for Xbox One at Metacritic. It’s also received an 8 out of 10 at GameSpot and 9 out of 10 at IGN for game reviews, so the game is drawing rave reviews despite the flaws.
