Fans of the popular FIFA lineup of international football video games got their first look at the covers for the next game in the series. On Friday, July 26, EA Sports posted images to reveal their official FIFA 20 cover stars for the Standard Edition and Champions Edition of the game.
Per ESPN’s report, Eden Hazard and Virgil van Dijk will be the official cover athletes for EA’s FIFA 20. Hazard will be the cover athlete for FIFA 20 Standard Edition, while van Dijk will appear on the cover of the FIFA 20 Champions Edition. EA’s FIFA Twitter showed off images of both covers on Friday. EA also teased there is one final cover reveal coming as they have yet to show off a third version of the game called FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition.
Hazard is a midfielder for Belgian national team and recently signed to play with Real Madrid after multiple seasons with the Premier League’s Chelsea. Virgil van Dijk currently plays in the EPL as a member of the Liverpool football club. He’s coming off an impressive season where Liverpool FC captured the Champions League title and he won Man of the Match. In addition, van Dijk was named EPL’s Player of the Season and PFA’s Player of the Year.
Hazard said in a statement regarding his appearance on the cover, “EA Sports FIFA is the biggest football game on the planet, and I have been playing it for years against my brothers.” He added that he was previously on the game before (for FIFA 15) but this is different. Now he’s considered the official cover star for the standard edition of the popular game. It sells for $59.99 and is available at EA’s FIFA website among other game retailers.
Van Dijk will appear on a higher-priced edition, which goes for $79.99 on pre-order. The Liverpool defender mentioned he’s been playing FIFA for a while now. He added, “it’s an extremely proud moment for me to be representing Liverpool FC on the cover.”
The final cover reveal still remains a mystery. That game will sell for $99.99 and includes more bonus content than the other day. It’s possible that FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition could feature a combination of players or also just one star player.
The new FIFA 20 game officially arrives for Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC on September 27, 2019. However, there are options to get them game three days earlier via pre-order. See more details at the EA FIFA website.
