Rumors: Apple to release new home hub feature with iPadOS 16

Apple is said to be working on a new version of iPadOS that will support a home Hub feature, allowing the iPad to act as an intelligent home controller. However, it has now been rumored that the quality will not be ready in time for the release of iPadOS 16 later this year.

The rumor comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has a good track record regarding Apple rumors. He says that Apple had initially planned to introduce the home Hub feature with iPadOS 16, but the company has now decided to delay it until a later software update.

While it is not yet clear why Apple has decided to delay the release of its home Hub feature, the company is likely still working to refine the part or fix any potential bugs. This wouldn’t be unusual for Apple, which is known for taking its time to perfect new products and features before releasing them to the public. In the meantime, users will have to wait patiently for more information on when the home Hub feature will finally be available.

The Home Hub feature was first rumored back in 2019, and it would allow the iPad to be used as an intelligent home controller, similar to the Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub. It would provide a central interface for controlling smart home devices and offer visual information such as security camera footage.

Apple is said to be working on several other new features for iPadOS 16, including an updated version of the Files app, support for AirPods Pro Spatial Audio, and improvements to the Apple Pencil. The update is also expected to support widgets on the home screen, similar to those available on the Today View. iPadOS 16 is supposed to be released in the fall, alongside iOS 14, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14.
