Cryptozoologists Opinions on Cryptocurrency

The word “crypto” has become synonymous with the terms cryptocurrencies, NFTs, Web3s, and Super Bowl ads. It has overshadowed the other community that is not related to blockchain technology.

People who study animals known as cryptozoologists talk about notable creatures such as the Sasquatch, the Chupacabra, and the Mothman. The term was first coined by Ivan T. Sanderson in his 1968 book, Abominable Snowmen. Although other fields of study such as cryptography have been around for a long time, cryptozoologists believe that it’s disrupting the financial space and their lives online.

According to Coleman, his followers often confuse the term crypto with other cryptocurrencies. He said that they start posting threads to debunk the misleading information. Some cryptozoologists also say that they receive messages and emails discussing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. There are a lot of posts on the platform that support the sentiment that crypto is the only type of crypto that I care about.

The cryptozoology community avoids using the term crypto to refer to unfamiliar creatures by using the term “cryptid.” This helps minimize the confusion. Some conventions are related to cryptocurrencies called CryptoCons. On the other hand, cryptozoology conventions are called “CryptidCons.”

Despite the confusion, Web3 enthusiasts are still trying to bridge the gap between the two communities. For instance, Coleman said that he received an offer to sponsor a set of NFT cryptids. However, he declined because he didn’t think that the two were talking in the same universe.

Although he doesn’t intend to start accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for the museum’s admission, he claims that there are no hard feelings toward the other cryptologists. He also says that he doesn’t care about the controversy surrounding cryptocurrencies. He claims that money is a “phantom type of currency.”

There are already a couple of NFT cryptids that are similar to Cryptokitties and Bored Apes, but there are also individuals who are investing in cryptocurrencies. For instance, Stephen Major, the founder of an organization that specializes in hunting down and studying Bigfoot, started a cryptocurrency known as Cryptoid Coin to fund his research.

According to Major, the main goal of the project is to develop advanced technology that can help capture Sasquatch. He noted that they already have various gadgets such as drones and motion sensors, but they need to raise enough money to purchase more sophisticated equipment.
