The S10 Lite model of the celebrated Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones will be the last and only device to support Android 13, the latest version of the popular mobile operating system developed by Google. The South Korean electronics giant formally retired the Galaxy brand after releasing the flagship S10 and its Lite version earlier this year, but only the latter device can be updated to the Samsung One user interface 5.0, which is based on Android 13.
According to a late November news report published by SAM Mobile}, the Samsung One UI 5.0 was only authorized to run on the firmware developed for the S10 Lite. As the last smartphone in the Galaxy line, the S10 will be used by Samsung to measure the level of quality user experience. In other words, even though future Samsung smartphones will ship under a brand other than Galaxy, the Samsung One UI 5.0 project will continue.
The 2022 rollout of Android 13 for the Galaxy S10 Lite started in Spain, and it is expected to spread across Europe in a few weeks. Canadian users will be able to upgrade later this year, and users in the United States and Latin America will follow thereafter.
It will still be a few months before the Galaxy S10 Lite receives its first comprehensive security patch. The final Galaxy model in the Galaxy line is the Samsung S10 Plus, and it was just released on October 16.
The Galaxy S10 Lite, which was released in February, was not the first advanced smartphone to support Android 13, but it was the first to use the Samsung One UI user interface that is derived from it. The original Samsung One UI 5.0 started development by the company in November 2019, just a few months after Samsung released the Galaxy S10 Lite.
The S10 Lite was not the most powerful device released by Samsung at the time, but it has been well-received by consumers. It. has a 6.7” display that is the same size as the screen on the Galaxy S10 and S10+ models. Like its predecessors, it also comes with Bixby, Google Assistant, the Edge Flip case, and much more.
