Valarie Streis is one of the founders of the app. She stated that a lot of people would like to get out on the water, but they cannot afford a boat. She also stated that are many unused boats. GetMyBoat will allow more people to have access to boats.
The app started off as a boat rental marketplace. However, the app grew rapidly in popularity, so the creators decided to expand the offerings. It is now a place for every type of water experience including canoeing, fishing and jet-skiing.
It is free for you to list your boat on the app. You will only be charged a fee after someone makes a booking. People will be able to upload photos of their boat, set the availability and set the price. It is a lot like Airbnb.
The app is also simple to use. A renter will be able to search through the listings. After you find what you are looking for, you will be able to select the dates, book it and pay for it.
Valarie stated that there are not a lot of people in the area who are using the app right now. However, she is hoping that more people will start to use the app. Valarie said that she is hoping that the app will end up being like Airbnb and Uber.
